The Union Canal collapsed and washed away the railway!


After a once in a 240-year storm, 12,500mᶟ of floodwater caused the Union Canal in Scotland to collapse, draining over 30 miles of canal and losing 75,000mᶟ of water. The catastrophic collapse also washed away a 300m section of the Glasgow to Edinburgh railway line. Today we begin our journey in Linlithgow, birthplace of royalty and a Star Trek legend, we find out all about Dudley the Cat, cross Scotland's longest aqueduct, and uncover the disturbing story of the Burke and Hare murders as we pass under Prospect Hill through Falkirk Tunnel.
